Summer has returned, but hopefully just short lived. I’m looking forward to today, Thursday, Sept. 22, when the high is supposed to be in the 70s — fall temperatures for sure. Signs of fall are all around us. Mums blooming, farmers have started harvesting and pumpkins are available for your fall decorations.

Our expression of sympathy is sent to the family of Velma Newton, who passed away recently. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family.

My father-in-law Bob Rushing passed over the weekend after being in the hospital with multiple problems for the past week. Please remember his wife, Linda, and the rest of the family in your thoughts and prayers. He was laid to rest Wednesday, Sept. 21. I have no doubt that Craig was waiting for him.

Bill Sommer hasn’t been feeling well and is in need of our prayers.

We had a great turnout Saturday in our end of the county for our yard sales. Thanks to Tiffany Korte for getting things going and advertising. I heard Tiffany’s sorority did well, with all their proceeds benefiting toys for kids for Christmas. I know I did well, and need to have another one, but it’s a lot of work.

There will be another community-wide yard sale on Saturday, Oct. 1. If anyone in the area wants to participate, you are welcome.

Nancy Abrams was taken to the hospital Sunday afternoon with blood clots in her lungs. Our thoughts and prayers are with her.

Happy birthday wishes are sent to Valerie Miller, Dustin Stratmeyer, Starla Price, Dee Dee Wrye, Jolene Flynn, Judy Troutt, Debra Travis, Jeremy Dalton, Tori and Josiah Aul.

Don’t forget our annual fish fry at the FLC this Sunday, Sept. 25, at 5 p.m. Bring covered dishes or desserts and join us. Everyone is welcome. We will also have chicken for those who don’t care for fish.

After staying under the air if possible the first part of the week, get out today, Thursday, and enjoy the fall temperatures.
